Scott & York Intellectual Property is pleased once again to support the UK SatNav Challenge.  In previous years, Scott & York has assisted finalists and the UK winner in identifying and capturing potential Intellectual Property Rights associated with their competition entries.

The area of Intellectual Property law is very complicated and the right guidance is essential to protect you and your invention against exploitation. This year Scott & York Intellectual Property will be providing advice and carrying out research to an overall estimated value of £10,000 - £15,000 across both the UK finalists and the UK winner.

The UK SatNav Challenge winner will be provided with first class advice on the capture of IP assets for their competition entry.  This advice will be founded on Scott & York’s many years of experience in both the field of satellite navigation and in assisting start-up ventures.  The entry will undergo a detailed Intellectual Property analysis which, if appropriate, will culminate in the collaborative preparation of a full patent specification which will be filed at the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office.

The finalists will gain the benefit of a professional search to identify whether there is existing previous work in the same technical field as their entry.  This will help put the entry in context in order to isolate protectable elements.

Protecting your Intellectual Property is an essential factor in the process from innovation to intention and to this end, Scott & York Intellectual Property is looking forward to aiding the successful entrants.

Another area of expertise is the determination of precise orbits of satellites, or indeed the precise trajectory of an aircraft. Prof Moore has led the development of a package to allow the fully autonomous determination of the precise orbits of Earth observation satellites, using GPS measurements as the only tracking system

Prof Moore has considerable expertise in geodetic coordinate reference systems and the transformations between them. He was one of the principal authors of the DATUM software package developed for EUROCONTROL
